Basic Rules to Training, Weight Loss, and Education
1. Context is everything, there is no single plan/cure for everyone.

2. You can never burn calories faster than you ingest them.

3. "Scientific research is not bias-free. It's not free of financial interests. It's not free of study design flaws, and it's not perfect. But it's the best tool that we have for getting closer to understanding the way the body works, the way that nature works." -Alan Aragon

4. Always be experimenting, always be reading and trying out new approaches.  Once you experience growth and adherance to a regiment that works, stick to it.  When it stops, adapt.

5.  Progress cannot be tracked without quatifiable measures.  Set a few realistic short-term goals you wish to achieve within a reasonable period of time that leads up to your long-term goals.  Schedule assessments regularily in your training and fitness status and expect improvements. If you are not seeing change overtime, something is wrong in your program.  Hire a mentor if you must.

6. Always be shopping.  If you are spending more than 8 hrs a week training, spending your paychecks on supplements monthly, and been going to the same bootcamp for years without reaching your goal, you are insane. Look for alternatives and invest your money wisely.

Here are some articles, research studies, videos, and forums that will answer most of your questions.
